Kidtab's Story

Kidtab's Story

David's Academic Career I graduated from Gazi University Special Education Teaching Department (Ankara, Turkey) in 2015 and with a master's degree in the same field in 2018. I am currently doing my PhD at the Institute of Educational Sciences at the University of Leeds, UK. I am conducting research to test the effectiveness of interactive book reading interventions on children's language and early literacy development. My advisors are: Dr Paula Clarke, Dr Hannah Nash and Dr Cat Davies. Kidtab's Story I have worked with many children with different types of disabilities during the undergraduate, graduate and doctorate process. I have used many techniques and strategies to teach them daily life and academic skills. I was constantly looking for new materials to facilitate the learning process for them. Over time I realized that there is limited material available for these children. I started developing materials myself. However, using these materials only for my own students made me sad. I wanted to deliver the materials to children living in different parts of the world. As a result of my research, I learned that the best way to do this is to develop a mobile application. But I couldn't do it alone. I formed a team of psychologists, child development experts, educators, software developers and designers. Then we developed our first application, the Dyslexia Reading Game. Then, as a result of positive feedback from users (children and parents), we developed Kidtab Special Education and Kidtab Preschool Education Applications. Currently, Kidtab Applications are used by normally developing children and their disabled peers almost all over the world. This makes us both proud and happy. This was Kidtab's origin and growth story.
